The custom shellinaboxd builds its SSH connection target using a snprintf call with user-supplied input; by supplying an overlong username string an attacker causes the device IP suffix to be truncated, redirecting the resulting connection to an arbitrary host. Attackers can use this capability to enumerate or communicate with internal network endpoints that would otherwise be inaccessible.","cvssScore":8.6,"cvssSeverity":"HIGH","cvssVector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N","cwes":["CWE-918"],"vendors":[],"products":[],"references":[{"url":"https://revrb.net/2026/09/21/revrb-lantern.html","tags":[]},{"url":"https://ts.lantronix.com/ftp/SLC9000/9.7.0.2R1/","tags":[]},{"url":"https://ts.lantronix.com/ftp/emg/EMG_7500/9.7.0.1R2/","tags":[]},{"url":"https://ts.lantronix.com/ftp/emg/EMG_8500/9.7.0.1R2/","tags":[]},{"url":"https://ts.lantronix.com/ftp/slc8000/9.7.0.3R3/","tags":[]},{"url":"https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/lantronix-autonomous-out-of-band-devices-webssh-ssrf-via-username-truncation","tags":[]}],"exploitRefs":[],"hasPoc":false,"ai":{"summary":"This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to establish SSH connections to arbitrary endpoints, potentially exposing internal network resources to external access.","exploitability":"Exploitation is relatively straightforward as it requires an overlong username string to truncate the device IP suffix, redirecting the connection to an attacker-controlled host.","blast_radius":"If exploited, this could lead to unauthorized access to internal network resources, compromising sensitive data and systems.","remediation":"Upgrade to firmware v9.7.0.3 or later for SLC8000, v9.7.0.2 or later for SLC9000, v9.7.0.1 or later for EMG8500/EMG7500, or apply the specific patch provided by the vendor.","detection":"No reliable host or network indicator is derivable from the published description.","tags":["ssh","webssh","webtelnet","server-side-request-forgery","unauthenticated"],"model":"qwen2.5:7b-instruct","analyzedAt":"2026-09-30T09:28:20.083Z"}}
