9.1 CRITICALpublic exploit available

Published 2026-10-15 · Updated 2026-10-16

AI risk analysis

Summary
A server-side template injection vulnerability in Tianji allows authenticated workspace administrators to inject and execute arbitrary JavaScript code via survey and monitor notification templates, leading to potential command execution and data compromise.
Exploitability
Moderately difficult to exploit as it requires an authenticated workspace administrator to create a malicious template, but the public survey.submit endpoint makes exploitation possible without authentication.
Blast radius
High impact across all survey responses and monitor notifications, potentially affecting multiple users and systems with access to the platform.
Detection
No reliable host or network indicator is derivable from the published description.
Prioritized remediation
Upgrade to version 1.31.29 or later to fix the template injection vulnerability.

NVD description

Tianji is an open source analytics, uptime monitoring, and server status platform. Prior to 1.31.29, formatString() in src/server/utils/template.ts passes survey feedTemplate and monitor notification templates to lodash template(), while the default evaluate pattern remains enabled. A workspace administrator can store an evaluate block using the <% code %> form, and the public survey.submit endpoint renders a survey template when an unauthenticated user submits a response. The compiled template executes server-side JavaScript in the Tianji Node.js process, allowing command execution, secret disclosure, data modification, or service disruption. This issue is fixed in version 1.31.29.
