CVE-2026-55797
8.8 HIGHpublic exploit availablePublished 2026-10-09 · Updated 2026-10-09
AI risk analysis
- Summary
- Argo CD repo-server is vulnerable to command injection in SSH ProxyCommand execution, allowing attackers with repository creation privileges to execute arbitrary commands on the server. This affects versions 2.11.0 through 3.6.0-rc2.
- Exploitability
- Moderately difficult to exploit as it requires a user with repository creation/update privileges to configure a malicious proxy URL, but the attack is largely automated once the configuration is in place.
- Blast radius
- High impact in environments where Argo CD manages critical Kubernetes deployments, as attackers could access Git, Helm, and OCI credentials while executing arbitrary commands on the repo-server.
- Detection
- Monitor for unusual SSH ProxyCommand execution patterns in repo-server logs, particularly when proxy URLs contain shell metacharacters or when repository configurations are updated with crafted proxy settings.
- Prioritized remediation
- Upgrade to Argo CD version 3.3.15, 3.4.10, 3.5.4, or 3.6.0-rc2 immediately to remediate this command injection vulnerability.

NVD description
Argo CD is a declarative, GitOps continuous delivery tool for Kubernetes. From 2.11.0 until 3.3.15, 3.4.10, 3.5.4, and 3.6.0-rc2, the Argo CD repo-server is vulnerable to command injection when it clones, tests, or fetches an SSH Git repository configured with a proxy URL. The proxy host and port are embedded in an SSH ProxyCommand that is executed through a shell without neutralizing shell metacharacters. A user who can create or update a repository or repository credential template can supply a crafted proxy host to execute commands in the repo-server and access its Git, Helm, and OCI credentials. This issue is fixed in versions 3.3.15, 3.4.10, 3.5.4, and 3.6.0-rc2.
