CVE-2026-57169
9.6 CRITICALpublic exploit availablePublished 2026-10-16 · Updated 2026-10-16
AI risk analysis
- Summary
- An unauthenticated WebSocket upgrade vulnerability in Dockhand's container terminal endpoint allows attackers to execute arbitrary commands inside target containers without authentication. This represents a critical security flaw that can lead to container compromise and potential host system access.
- Exploitability
- Exploitation is relatively straightforward for attackers who can reach Dockhand over the network, know a target container ID, and have access to a container with an interactive shell, requiring only a WebSocket connection to the /api/containers/<id>/exec endpoint.
- Blast radius
- The impact could be significant across multiple containers if attackers leverage this vulnerability to gain access to sensitive mounts or privileged execution environments, potentially leading to full host compromise.
- Detection
- No reliable host or network indicator is derivable from the published description.
- Prioritized remediation
- Upgrade to version 1.0.34 or later to address the authentication bypass in the WebSocket upgrade request for the container terminal endpoint.

NVD description
Dockhand is a Docker management application. Prior to 1.0.34, the in-browser container terminal endpoint /api/containers/<id>/exec does not enforce authentication on the WebSocket upgrade request. When an unauthenticated attacker has network reach to Dockhand, knows a target container ID, and targets a container with an interactive shell, the attacker can open a raw WebSocket terminal session and execute commands inside a known target container. This allows unauthenticated command execution inside the container, with possible host compromise when the container has sensitive mounts or privileged execution. This issue is fixed in version 1.0.34.
